Circus Show

Ringmaster Giovanni Anastasini, who was the ringmaster of the circus shows at the 50th State Fair for several years, brings five exciting acts to perform at this year’s Big Island Fair.

  • Comedy Diabolo - Giovanni, originally from Italy, is an 8th generation member of the famous Anastasini family of circus performers. He includes audience participation in the comedy diabolo act.

  • Icarian Risley - The Anastasini Brothers, Giuilano and Fabio, are the sons of two circus families. Their mother is a 6th generation circus performer from the world-renowned Flying Espana flying trapeze family of Mexico, and their father is Giovanni, who performed the Icarian act with his brother for over 25 years. Giuliano and Fabio, 9th generation circus performers, continue the tradition of the amazing Icarian act with elegance, class, and amazing stunts. They have performed around the world including Circus Krone in Germany, Circus Sarasota, Circus Conelli in Switzerland, and special events for Cirque Du Solei.

  • Low Wire -15-year-old Brando Anastasini, cousin of the Anastasini Brothers, is also a 9th generation member of the Anastasini circus family. Brando’s ability to walk the wire and perform a variety of stunts above the ground made him a crowd favorite at this year’s 50th State Fair.

  • Teeterboard - The Alvarez family, who are accomplished flying trapeze artists, will be performing their teeterboard act. The act includes family patriarch Martin, who started performing at the age of 9, and his wife Crina, who is originally from Romania and has been an accomplished circus performer since her youth. Their son Gianni and daughter Ariana round out the family act. It’s been said that circus acts are a child's game perfected. What better example of this than the teeterboard. After all, who hasn't wanted to launch a brother or sister to the moon on the seesaw! The Alvarez Family brings that wish to life in their high energy act---launching, tumbling, and twisting skyward and back to earth.

  • Dancing Gauchos - Sergio and Martha Martinez from Las Vegas are the Dancing Gauchos. This award winning duo generates audiences into immeasurable levels of resounding acceptance with their explosive performance. Boleadoras, fire, whips, and riveting percussion are the mesmerizing skills they master with unrivaled precision, speed, and flair climaxing to a crescendo of gripping entertainment. Bursting with raw energy, they merge the element of danger, represented by Boleadoras, a perilous spinning weapon stemming back to prehistoric origins, with the passionate Malabo, a captivating form of Argentinean footwork inspired by Flamenco and Irish step-dancing. To this stunning array, they integrate impossibly intricate drumming, dazzling costumes, and the surprise of spirited wit and humor, while delivering each, show-stopping performance with unequaled charisma.

Da Braddahs

No aspect of island culture is safe from Da Braddahs' wacky brand of Hawaiian-style ridicule on their popular self-produced sketch comedy. James Roache, Tony Silva and da Friends poke fun at the many cultures that make Hawaii so unique! Da Braddahs’ comedy has been making local Hawaii people 'Jus Buckaloose' laughing for years. They bring their unique form of entertainment to the Big Island Fair on Saturday at 6 p.m.
